Our family vacation in Western Australia was a free and easy self-drive holiday, and all photos and videos were taken with iPhone X, some have been edited with an app called Snapseed. I’ve marked my recommendations with a 👍

Day 1:
We arrived in Perth in the afternoon, collected our rental car and headed to our first accommodation at Branksome Gardens, a cosy Airbnb close to City Beach👍. After a smooth check-in, we ran out of the house towards the beach and managed to catch the beautiful sunset before having dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby, which also had lovely views of the Indian Ocean.

Day 2:
Spent most of the day at City Beach, and did some shopping at the malls.

Day 3:
Drove to Mary Street Bakery for breakfast and headed to Perth Hills. Raeburn Orchards👍 was bursting with autumn colours against a clear blue sky. I was so tempted to steal a persimmon - it looked so fresh and juicy and perky - but fruit picking isn’t allowed here.

Lunch was at Core Cider, where we had the best apple juice ever, so we bought a whole bottle. It was lunch with a view too, as the restaurant overlooked the orchards and hills beyond.

Went to the beach again in the evening, we really didn’t want to say goodbye!

Day 4:
3 plus hour drive to Margaret River, with a lunch stop in between at a cosy restaurant called The Crooked Carrot.
Arrived at Margaret River Farmstay👍, stayed in our cottage for a simple home-cooked dinner.

Day 5:
Explored some establishments in the area, including Millers Ice Creamery, where there was a nice little bush walk good for little children. There was also a small playground but Luke didn’t find it very fun, so we left and went to Rotary Park👍, where he had much more fun. The park is a nice picnic venue and we would have loved to take a slow stroll further in, but of course we were stuck at the playground. Next was lunch at Vasse Felix👍, where we had a delicious meal paired with their impressive wines.

Day 6:
Saturday morning at the Farm began with animal feedings, where we had close encounters with all kinds of farm animals, goats, cows, emus, alpacas, ducks, chickens and a very calm kangaroo. After the feeding, we checked out Margaret River Farmers Market👍.
Next was Cheeky Monkeys Brewery👍, where Luke had a splendid time at the playground, while Daddy and Mummy enjoyed a beer each. We also took a long walk around the picturesque area.

Day 7:
Back to Perth City.
Made a stop at Busselton Jetty👍, as recommended by Beatrice, Celeste and Ziyi (thank you gals!), and we were so glad we did! We took the Jetty Train, and spent a while longer than planned at the huge playground.

Finally reached Perth City in the evening, and didn’t want to leave the room after checking in at Como Treasury.

Day 8:
Spent the day exploring playgrounds in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
My favourite was Saw Avenue Variety Place👍, but Luke’s favourite was Synergy Parkland👍.

Day 9:
Home sweet home!
